One person is dead after a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Highway 89 near Flagstaff. Summit Fire and Medical crews were called to the area at milepost 431 at around 3:35 p.m. Witnesses told crews a silver passenger car had been traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and rolled several times. The car came to a stop when it slammed into a power pole. The driver, 35-year-old Melissa Thorpe from Lechee, Arizona was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
