One Person Arrested After A Threat At A Walmart In Taylor

There was an incident at the Taylor Walmart Monday morning. Snowflake-Taylor Police say they received a 911 call at around 4:48 a.m. from an employee saying an armed man came through the garden center while employees were preparing to open the store. A second caller called 911 saying they heard a gunshot outside the store. The suspect, 52-year-old Solomon Dominquez from Concho, then held employees at gunpoint. Officers arrived on the scene and secured the building. Dominguez called 911 and demanded to talk to police. During negotiations, he put the handgun down on a counter inside. A quick-thinking employee grabbed the 9-millimeter handgun and, along with the remaining staff, ran out of the store through a nearby fire exit. A tactical team arrived at the store and after several minutes, they entered and found Dominguez and were able to de-escalate the situation and he was taken into custody just before 7 a.m. Dominguez was charged with several counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, several counts of kidnapping and other counts related to the incident. Dominguez is a suspect in another shooting in Navajo County last week.
