As the results get finalized from the 2022 primary elections, focus is now turning to November’s general election. Eli Crane was the winner of a seven candidate primary in Congressional District Two, which takes up most of the old District One, but now includes Yavapai County. Republican officials believe that shift after redistricting puts them in a favorable spot to turn the area red. Crane won the primary by over eleven-thousand votes over the runner-up, former State Representative Walt Blackman. Crane’s background is he is a small business owner with his wife. Their company, “Bottle Breacher” was featured on the television show “Shark Tank.” He is originally from Yuma and now lives in Tucson. Eli is a veteran and served 13 years as a Navy SEAL and went on five war deployments. He is a Trump-backed Republican and is focusing on election integrity, border security, among other topics in his campaign, and wants to “bring a business background to Congress.” He believes voters are looking for candidates who are “real” and “authentic.” Crane told KAFF News in Flagstaff Saturday that his approach going forward is “not complaining about it (issues) anymore, but trying to do something about it. It resonates with people and I think that’s why we will beat Tom O’Halleran in November.” He adds, that voters want, “people with a history and a lineage of doing the right thing, when it might cost them. Trust me, this is a costly business.” Crane is running against Congressman O’Halleran, who ran unopposed in the primary and was the Congressman in CD1 before redistricting.
