A man had to be rescued after he became stranded on the Arizona Trail along the Mogollon Rim. Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say on Sunday at around 8 a.m., search and rescue crews responded to a 41-year-old man from New York, who was stranded in deep snow at the General Springs Cabin. The cabin is located about nine miles east of Highway 87 off Forest Service Road 300. The road is closed to vehicle travel due to winter conditions. The man had been hiking since March 2nd when he started in Superior and was camping along the way. Even though he was well-equipped for the long hike, he wasn’t equipped for snow. Rescuers responded to the area with snowmobiles and a snowcat. He was found at the cabin in good condition and was transported back to the highway and was given a ride to Payson.
