New Mexico Man Arrested After Leading Police On A High Speed Chase That Ended At Twin Arrows Casino

A New Mexico man lead law enforcement on a chase from Cordes Junction to Twin Arrows Casino where he was arrested last week.  Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Pilot gas station in Cordes Junction last Wednesday morning at around 1:45 a.m.  Dispatchers received a call from a woman saying her boyfriend was “beating her up” and tried to drive away with her three-year-old daughter inside.  The three were driving from Phoenix to New Mexico when 28-year-old Raydaynold Yazzie from New Mexico, became upset and stopped at the gas station.  The victim said during the stop Yazzie grabbed her hair and pulled her back into the car as she tried to get out to use the bathroom.  While the victim was on the phone with 911, Yazzie grabbed the phone and hung up.  Yazzie gave the girl back to the victim and got back into the car.  A deputy arrived and instead of listening to the officer, Yazzie got into the car and sped away.  The victim told deputies Yazzie had been drinking and using marijuana.  Deputies followed for a short time, but Yazzie pulled away driving at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.  It was reported later that Yazzie fled from both Flagstaff Police and Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies near Flagstaff on eastbound I-40.  Finally, Yazzie called the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and offered to surrender.  Deputies met him at Twin Arrows Casino where he was arrested.  He has been booked into the Coconino County Jail on a slew of charges including DUI Drugs, reckless driving and theft.  Yavapai County will file additional charges connected to the incident.  Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies drove the victim and her daughter back to their Phoenix apartment.
