The new flights to Denver and Dallas-Fort Worth from the Flagstaff Airport have been very successful so far. Flagstaff Airport Director Barney Helmick says since American Airlines launched service, two round trip flights a day, from Flagstaff to Dallas-Fort Worth and four flights from Flagstaff to Phoenix, planes have been at 75-to-77 percent full. Since United Airlines launched round trip flights from Flagstaff to Denver on March 31st, those flights have been at 88-percent capacity. He says “there is a strong possibility another route may be added in the next year, no later than the following year.” He added, “we are pushing very heavily to get San Francisco” for the next route. The added flights also means bigger parking issues at the airport. Helmick says the city is looking at ways to add additional parking at the airport to help ease congestion in the lots.
