A new development went before the Flagstaff Planning and Zoning Commission last night. Developers are looking for a zone change of around 14 acres of the property from medium density residential to highway commercial on the northwest corner of Fourth Street and Butler Avenue in Flagstaff. The mixed-use development known as The Elkwood Flagstaff Apartments would be four-stories and would contain multifamily residential and retail commercial uses. The development would also include ten-percent affordable housing units in the project. The development passed the Planning and Zoning Commission with a 4-1 vote and will be heard and voted on by the Flagstaff City Council at a future meeting. Council is currently in recess until mid-August for summer break.
