The Navajo Nation says it will receive its first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine this week. Health officials say they are expecting the first shipments Monday and Tuesday, with the first doses given to health care workers and those in long-term assisted living facilities. The shipments are being sent to the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Chinle IHS and Northern Navajo Medical Center. A stay-at-home lockdown remains in effect for the entire Navajo Nation through at least December 28th. The stay-at-home order also includes the 57-hour weekend lockdowns from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Health officials say there were 183 new cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday and two new deaths. The total number of those who have died from COVID-19 on the reservation is 720 with 19,698 positive tests total.
