Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, the Navajo Nation will go back to “Orange Status” restrictions. Tribal health officials are expected to release information on the details soon. Navajo Nation President Jonanthan Nez says based on contact tracing, the increase is coming mostly from in-person social and family gatherings. Nez says with 75-percent of the nation fully vaccinated, they can take a different approach in regards to restrictions. The president urged tribal members to wear masks in public and for those who haven’t received the vaccine yet, do so as soon as possible. Health officials reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation Wednesday, with two deaths.
