Navajo Nation Issues New Public Health Order, Delta Variant Documented On The Reservation

The Navajo Nation released a new public health order Wednesday in regards to COVID-19 and the reopening of the reservation. Health officials have given the go-ahead for schools on the Navajo Nation to reopen in the fall under “yellow status.” That status means students must wear masks, physical distance, get tested, contract trace and get vaccinated. Health officials say the Navajo Nation is experiencing a plateau of low cases, with a slowed infection rate. However, as vaccines continue to be made available to the Navajo Nation, health officials say all preventative measures should continue such as: masking, social distancing and washing hand, especially for those who have not been vaccinated. New variants, including the Delta variant, have been documented on the Navajo Nation recently. Tuesday, President Nez announced the Navajo Nation will re-open parks and roads to 50-percent capacity.
