The Navajo Nation’s four casinos will remain closed through at least August 31st. Navajo Nation Gaming made the announcement Monday saying as tribal casinos have reopened across Arizona and New Mexico, they have decided to stay closed. Quincy Natay, Navajo Nation Gaming Chairman says “as the first tribal casino to close on March 17th, and possibly the last to reopen, Navajo Nation Gaming will offer “best-in-class” safety measures and a “trusted-space” environment for our patrons and team members when it is safe to reopen.” The continuous closure of the four casinos has also placed an extreme financial burden on the operations, forcing temporary layoffs of 88 percent of employees back on August 4th. Officials remain hopeful the casinos can reopen soon so they can re-employ those who were let go.
