The Navajo Nation has extended its Stay at Home/Shelter in Place lockdown order for two additional weeks. Tribal officials say these measures are intended to further ensure an effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic by restricting movement of individuals on the Nation to limit contact to prevent the spread of the virus and to alleviate the strain on medical response capabilities. The order will stay in effect until at least January 11th. The stay-at-home order also includes the 57-hour weekend lockdowns from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Tribal health officials say individuals are required to stay home, stay on the Navajo Nation and refrain from off-reservation travel. Members are also advised not to gather with anyone outside their immediate household and to stay within local communities. Health officials advise residents to wear a mask, practice social distancing and wash your hands. The Navajo Nation reports 122 new cases of COVID-19 and ten new deaths. There has been 22,277 cases of the virus with 11,402 recoveries.
