The Navajo Nation is expanding options for isolation sites for people who test positive for COVID-19. Tribal health officials have announced that people who test positive for the coronavirus will be referred to be housed at an isolation site or other isolation hotel facilities to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Also, those awaiting test results can also quarantine at the hotel facilities. So far, tribal officials have set up an alternate care site in Chinle and isolation hotels in Gallup and Farmington, New Mexico, as well as Tuba City and Holbrook. Each isolation hotel site provides clinical observation and monitoring for those who test positive. The move was made after some of the ICU’s on the reservation are full and other bed spaces are filling up. For information on the isolation hotels, call 1-844-935-3932. The Navajo Nation reported 177 new cases and no new deaths reported Sunday.
