NAU’s Mike Marlow Named 2021-2022 National Athletic Director Of The Year

Northern Arizona University’s Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Marlow, has been named the 2021-2022 Athletic Director of the Year in the Football Championship Subdivision. The announcement was made Tuesday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Marlow is only the fifth recipient of this award in the Big Sky Conference and is the first in NAU Athletics history. Marlow serves as chair of the league’s Athletic Director Committee and Men’s Basketball Committee, NAU Athletics’ Hall of Fame Committee, the State of Arizona Hall of Fame Committee and Emergency Action Committee. In support of the Student-Athlete High Performance Center, Marlow secured the first, second, third and fourth million-dollar gifts to NAU Athletics. In the fiscal year of 2022, NAU Athletics will have secured more than three-million dollars for the first time in history. Since Marlow’s arrival in Flagstaff, NAU Athletics has captured 29 conference championships following the men’s and women’s indoor track and field and swimming and diving programs claiming titles last month. Additionally, NAU Men’s Cross Country won its third Division One National Championship during Marlow’s tenure last fall, and the men placed fourth at the NCAA Indoor Track And Field Championships, which is the program’s highest team finish ever, last weekend. Marlow will be honored and recognized at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas on Tuesday, June 28th.
