The NAU Police Department has been awarded four grants from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety that total over $41-thousand dollars. The money will be used for a variety of things including allowing NAUPD officers to conduct DUI enforcement during major holidays and NAU events. It will also allow officers to engage in bicycle and ATV patrols on campus. Also the grant will allow the training of two additional officers on the use of the Zero Electric Motorcycle and to purchase new scanners and printers for each patrol vehicle. The grants will help NAUPD officers to better serve the campus community in regards to impaired driving, speed-related crashes and pedestrian, cyclist and skateboarder-related injuries and fatalities.
