The NAU women’s basketball team received career-high performances from Regan Schenck and Miki’ala Maio to lead the Jacks to a 84-81 win over Northern Colorado in Flagstaff Saturday. “We needed this one. The kids, they stayed the course. They knew we were just on the brink,” said NAU head coach Loree Payne. “We really talked about togetherness, that we need to play with a little bit more chemistry. We just needed to play with a renewed desire, urgency and intensity.” NAU led after the first quarter, but it was a tight game throughout. Schenck scored a career-high 27 points, going eight-of-eight from the field, including three-for-three from the three-point line. Schenck also grabbed 12 rebounds and six assists. Maio had a career-high 24, going 11-of-13 from the field. Both players stepped when both J.J. Nakai and Khiarica Rasheed struggled against the Bears. The duo combined for ten points on three-of-21 shooting. NAU will host Sacramento State Thursday and Saturday at the Rolle Activity Center in Flagstaff.
