The NAU women’s basketball team ran into a tough defensive effort from Sacramento State as the Hornets used a 16-4 second quarter to beat the Lumberjacks 76-63, to win the Big Sky Women’s Basketball Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament. The Jacks were held to 36-percent shooting from the floor. Emily Rodabaugh led the Jacks with 18 points. Regan Schenck struggled, scoring 12 points on four-of-17 shooting. Olivia Moran added ten points in the loss. The Jacks finish the season with a 21-and-13 record, with Schenck and Nyah Moran making the all-tournament team. Sacramento State’s win, gives them their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. The season isn’t over for NAU however. Being the Big Sky regular season champions, they earned an automatic berth into the Women’s NIT. NAU will not host a game in the WNIT, which will announce the brackets Monday.
