NAU Track And Field Wins Men’s And Women’s Outdoor Big Sky Championships

The NAU men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams won both Big Sky Championships for the sixth time in school history Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho. The NAU women won the meet with 244 points, which is the most scored in Big Sky history. On the final day of competition NAU won seven gold, three silver and seven bronze medals and also swept the podium in the 5,000, 1,500, 400 and 200 meter races. The men scored 185 points, which is the third highest point total in NAU history. The Jacks dominated long distance events. NAU finished first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh in the men’s-5k. Drew Bosley won the event, Nico Young was third followed by Abdihamid Nur in fourth, Brody Hasty in fifth and Ryan Raff seventh. Nur won the 15-hundred meter run followed by Young in second, Theo Quax fourth and Caleb Easton seventh. NAU had 20 points in throwing events and David Dunlap won the 100 and 200-meters and was named the men’s Most Valuable Athlete. The Jacks swept cross country and both indoor and outdoor Big Sky championships for in the same calendar year for the third time in program history. NAU will now send a group of athletes to Arkansas for the NCAA West Regional May 26th.
