The Arizona Department of Education, NAU, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman, announced the creation of the Arizona Teacher Residency program Tuesday. This first-of-its-kind graduate program is aimed to provide aspiring teachers with in-classroom experience and living stipends. By the end of this two-year program, residents will receive their master’s degree from NAU and a job at a partnering school district. With five-million dollars granted by The Arizona Department of Education, the Arizona K12 Center at NAU will now be able to design, launch, and expand the Arizona Teacher Residency program. In its first year, they will partner with Title One elementary school districts in the Phoenix area with plans to expand to high schools and rural areas in later years. The Arizona Teacher Residency program will be accepting applications this winter, and the program will begin in the summer of 2022. For more information about the program, log onto azk12.org.
