The NAU Lumberjacks basketball teams swept the Idaho Vandals Thursday night. The women were without leading scoreer J.J. Nakai, but it didn’t matter as they beat Idaho 84-62 at the Rolle Activity Center. Regan Schenck led the Lumberjacks with 23 points as NAU led Idaho 33-12 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Kharica Rasheed made her first start of the season and scored 13 points and Emily Rodabaugh had a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. NAU shot 53-percent from the floor, 10-of-21 from three point range. The Jacks improve to 5-2, 3-0 in the Big Sky and will play Idaho again Saturday at noon. The men had their first lead at halftime this season 33-32 and outscored Idaho 45-33 in the second half to beat the Vandals 78-65 in Moscow, Idaho. Cameron Shelton led the Jacks with 24 points and seven rebounds. Luke Avdalovic broke out of a slump with 17 points in the win. NAU improves to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the Big Sky. The Jacks will play Idaho again on the road Saturday at noon, the pregame show starts at 11:30 a.m. on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 in Flagstaff and Fun Oldies 97.9 in Prescott.
