The NAU Football team is getting ready for fall camp and the regular season that starts in just over a month. Monday, the Big Sky Conference preseason coaches and media polls were released. The leading vote-getter heading into the 2023 season is the Montana State Bobcats. The picked up ten of the 12 first place votes by the coaches and 26 of the 39 first place votes by the media. NAU was picked to finish ninth in the coaches poll and eighth in the media poll. At Big Sky Media Day in Spokane, Washington Monday, head coach Chris Ball said how they finish games was a big part of the discussion in the off-season. Ball says “we corrected some things with our staff and I think moving forward you’ll see a well-coached football team that’s going to know how to finish games.” NAU junior running back Draycen Hall says the Lumberjack offense will be something to watch this off season. He says, “we’re ready, we’re locked in.” Hall adds, “we’ve got some fast receivers and we’re just looking forward to showcasing what we got and doing the best we can every game.” Only one player made it on the preseason all-Big Sky team. That person is senior defensive lineman Eloi Kewte. NAU kicks off the season in Tucson against the Arizona Wildcats Saturday, September 2nd. All NAU home football games kickoff at 1 p.m. this season.
