The NAU men’s basketball team got out to a slow start and couldn’t rally as they open the 2020-2021 regular season with a 96-53 loss to the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson Monday. Luke Avdalovic led the Jacks with 16 points and Cameron Shelton added 15 in the loss. Jemarl Baker led the Cats with 33 points including 7-of-9 from the three point range. NAU shot 31-percent from the floor, while Arizona was a red-hot 67-percent from the field. The Jacks will play their home opener Thursday night at the Rolle Activity Center against the Highlanders of UC-Riverside. Tip time is at 5 p.m. The game will be played with no fans due to COVID-19 protocols.
