The NAU men’s and women’s basketball teams struggled against Montana State Thursday night and came out on the short end. The men came into Thursday’s game fresh off a road win in Montana. It was a tough, physical game but Montana State came out on top Thursday, 62-51. Cameron Shelton led the Jacks with 24 points and was the only NAU player in double figures in the loss. The game marked the return to the lineup of guard Luke Avdalovic, who missed time with a concussion. Montana State remains undefeated in the Big Sky at 5-0. The two teams will meet again Saturday in the Rolle Activity Center. Tip time is at noon with the pregame show at 11:30 a.m. on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 in Flagstaff and Fun Oldies 97.9 in Prescott. On the women’s side, NAU committed 23 turnovers and couldn’t get going as they fell to the Bobcats, 79-56, in Bozeman. Freshman Nyah Moran was the only Lumberjack in double-figures with a career-high 15 points in the loss. The two teams play again Saturday. Tip off is at noon.
