The NAU basketball teams were swept by Montana State Saturday. The men’s basketball team scrapped and clawed with Montana State, but couldn’t get the win as the Bobcats sweep the Jacks in Flagstaff with a 58-53 win Saturday. Cameron Shelton was called for a charge with just under :50-seconds to go with NAU down by three points. Shelton led the Jacks with 22 points and eclipsed the 1,000th career point in the loss. He was the only Lumberjack to score in double figures. The Jacks shot 42-percent from the field but was just 1-of-7 from three point range. Montana State won their seventh-straight game and are 6-0 in the Big Sky, while the Jacks have lost five of their last six games. NAU will host Northern Colorado Thursday, then head to Greeley on Saturday. Thursday’s game starts at 6 p.m. with the pregame show starting at 5:30 p.m. on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 in Flagstaff and Fun Oldies 97.9 FM in Prescott. The women’s basketball team got down 18-7 after one and couldn’t quite recover as they fell to Montana State on the road, 90-65. The game marked the first time this season that J.J. Nakai and Khairica Rasheed were in the starting lineup together. Rasheed led the Jacks with 17 points and Miki’ala Maio and Nyah Moran added 15 points in the loss. The Jacks now head to Greeley, Colorado to take on the Northern Colorado Bears next Thursday and Saturday.
