NAU Men Sweeps Idaho On The Road, Women Split At Home In Hoops Saturday

The NAU men’s basketball team needed overtime to beat Idaho Saturday, 83-78 to sweep the Vandals on the road. Cameron Shelton scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed a key offensive rebound late in overtime to get the win for the Jacks. Nik Mains tied a career-high with 16 points and ten rebounds and Keith Haymon had a career-high 15 points on five, three-pointers in the win. The Jacks improve to 2-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The Jacks completed the two game sweep of the Vandals on the road. The NAU women’s basketball team split with Idaho in the two game series with the Vandals in Flagstaff. NAU trailed 36-22 at halftime, but rallied in the second half but couldn’t get over the hump Saturday, falling to Idaho 66-59. Khiarica Rasheed scored 15 of her 19 points in the third quarter to rally the Jacks. Emily Rodabaugh chipped in with 12 and Miki’ala Maio added 11 in the loss. NAU split the series with Idaho after winning on Thursday. The women head to Idaho State to take on the Bengals, while the men will host Idaho State at the Rolle Activity Center in Flagstaff. Thursday’s game for both teams tips off at 6 p.m. The broadcast of the men’s game begins at 5:30 Thursday with the pregame show on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 in Flagstaff and Fun Oldies 97.9 in Prescott.
