The NAU Lumberjacks led 23-22 with two-seconds left, then Weber State quarterback Randall Johnson threw a “Hail Mary” pass to Justin Malone for 50 yards for the touchdown as the second-ranked Wildcats beat the Jacks, 28-23, Ogden, Utah. The Jacks trailed 22-16 when quarterback Keondre Wudtee scampered for a one-yard touchdown. Luis Aguilar’s extra point gave NAU a 23-22 lead with 17-seconds to play. The ensuing kickoff went out of bounds and then a NAU player was flagged for a personal foul so Weber State started the drive at midfield, which led to the winning touchdown. Freshman Draycen Hall had a career-high 142 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown in the loss for NAU. The Jacks outgained the Wildcats 442-to-386 yards in the game. The Jacks had three interceptions from three different players, Wudtee, Jeff Widener and Brandon Porter. Weber State improves to 3-0 on the season, while NAU falls to 1-2. NAU will host the winless Cal Poly Mustangs in the Skydome Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
