The NAU Lumberjacks ran into a buzzsaw in the 18th-ranked Sacramento State Hornets Saturday, falling 44-0. NAU couldn’t get much going as at halftime, Sac State had 517 yards of total offense to just 37 yards for NAU as the Hornets led 37-0. The Hornets had 665 yards for the game, while Jacks mustered 226. The last time NAU was shutout in a game, was August 30, 2013 in Tucson against Arizona. Freshman quarterback R.J. Martinez was 19-of-32 for 136 yards with an interception. Sacramento State quarterbacks were 26-of-32 for 410 yards and three touchdowns with an interception. The Jacks fall to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big Sky. NAU will regroup and head to Idaho to battle the Vandals next Saturday. Pregame will be at noon with the kickoff at 1 p.m.
