The NAU women’s basketball team wanted to get revenge and make a statement Thursday night against Grand Canyon and they did just that. The Lumberjacks used hot shooting and staunch defense to beat the Lopes, 108-77, at the Rolle Activity Center. It was NAU’s first-ever win in women’s basketball over GCU. Grand Canyon beat NAU 66-58 in 2020 and that game stuck with the Lumberjacks. Lauren Orndoff led the Jacks with 25 points and Nina Radford had 22 points with six three-pointers in the win. Regan Schenck had eight points and 14 assists for the Jacks, which ties the school record for assists. GCU came into the game with a 5-2 record and NAU sent them home with their worst loss of the season. NAU improves to 4-3 on the season and will host another tough team in Cal Baptist Saturday afternoon in the Rolle Activity Center. Tip time is at 2 p.m.
