NAU Beats Southern Utah On The Last Play Of The Game Saturday

Keondre Wudtee found Coleman Owen with no time left as the NAU Lumberjacks beat the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 34-33, in the season opener in the Skydome. Wudtee was 17-of-25 for 252 yards and two touchdowns in his first start as an NAU quarterback. After having 75 yards of total offense in the first half, NAU finished with 343 yards. Stacie Chukwumezie had four catches for 75 yards and a touchdown and Owens had 62 yards for the Lumberjacks. Thunderbirds quarterback Justin Miller was 29-of-40 for 288 yards and five touchdowns with an interception. The Jacks hit the road next week as they take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. Kickoff next Saturday is at 2:05 p.m.
