NAU Beats Portland State On A Late Field Goal

Luis Aguilar hit a 39-yard field goal with four-second left to knock off Portland State, 31-29 in the Skydome for homecoming. NAU led for the entire game, until late in the fourth quarter when Portland State’s Cody Williams made his fifth field goal of the game with 1:26 to play to give Portland State a 29-28 lead. NAU quarterback Case Cookus led the Jacks down the field to position the Jacks to the game winning field goal. Cookus was 26-41 for 363 yards and two touchdowns and an interception and freshman wide receiver Hendrix Johnson had five catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in the win. Portland State amassed over 500 yards of total offense, while NAU had over 460 yards of offense in the game. NAU will travel to Cheney, Washington next week to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
