NAU Beats Eastern Washington In A Wild Football Game To End The 2023 Season

NAU jumped out to a 35-7 lead on the road at Eastern Washington late in the first half and had to score two fourth quarter touchdowns to beat the Eagles 49-42. The Eagles scored 28 unanswered points to tie the game at 35 with 10:34 to go in the game. NAU then put a nice drive together, capped off by a 14 yard touchdown pass from Angel Flores to tight end Marcus Phillips to take the lead. After NAU held the Eagles to a three-and-out, Flores connected to on a 76 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver B.J. Fleming to go up 49-35. The Eagles drove down and scored to make it 49-42 with a minute to play. NAU recovered the onside kick to seal the win for for the Lumberjacks. Flores was 14-for-20 for 262 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also had 21 carries for 114 yards and three touchdowns running the ball. Devon Starling rushed for 125 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown in the win. NAU had 581 yards of total offense to 430 yards of total offense for Eastern Washington. The Jacks finish with a 5-6 record and 5-3 in the Big Sky.
