Firefighters battled a house fire that spread to a wildfire Sunday afternoon in Wilhoit. Crews from Southern Yavapai, Peeples Valley, Yarnell, Baghdad Williamson Valley and Prescott fire departments, along with Prescott National Forest crews, helped battle the fire. The fire started at around 5 p.m. and resources were quickly called to action. Highway 89 was closed due to aircraft dropping slurry in the area and the fire spread to brush and two additional homes. The fire has been contained, but fire officials say you may see smoke coming from the area today as mop up duties continue. Officials remind residents to clear the area around your home. There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is not known.
