Most Of Northern Arizona Saw An Above Normal Monsoon Season In 2022

The 2022 Monsoon Season ended up being a very wet one across Northern Arizona. The Flagstaff Airport finished the season with 10.63 inches of rain, which is the 15th wettest on record and nearly three-inches above normal. However both Sunset Crater and Walnut Canyon national parks had the wettest Monsoon season on record. Sunset Crater had 16.37 inches of rain, which is 8.37 inches above normal. Walnut Canyon received 15.42 inches of rain, which is 7.70 inches of rain above normal. Williams had nearly 11 inches of rain, making it the 18th wettest on record and Bellemont had just over 12-inches of rain for the fourth-wettest on record. Prescott’s Sundog Water Plant received 13.78 inches of rain, which is six-and-a-half inches above normal and the fifth-wettest on record. The Prescott Airport received 8.49 inches of rain, which is 3.30 inches more than normal and the 14th wettest on record. Even though the Monsoon season is technically over, we’ll still see some Monsoon seasonesque showers through the week.
