More pile burns are set for the Flagstaff area this week. Coconino National Forest fire crews will burn about 305 acres of piles at the southwest base of Mount Elden, south of Elden Lookout Road, over the course of one to five days. The burns are part of Phase 1 of the Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project. About 150 acres of piles will be burned in the Chimney Springs are near Highway 180 in the Fort Valley Area. These burns are expected to last between one to three days. Also 20 acres will be burned along Snowbowl Road in the Baderville area north of Highway 180. No closures are anticipated during the burns. All should be visible in the Flagstaff area between Monday and Friday. Other burns are planned in the forest in the Clints Well and Blue Ridge Ranger Station area as well.
