More Is Known About A Fatal Accident On Leupp Road Last Thursday

A Flagstaff area man was killed last week in a three-car accident on Leupp Road. Coconino County Sheriff’s investigators say witnesses tell them that 65-year-old Karl Hautzenroeder of the Alpine Ranchos community of Flagstaff, was stopped on Leupp Road preparing to make a left turn, when he was hit from behind by another vehicle. The collision forced Karl’s vehicle into oncoming traffic where it was hit by another vehicle. The accident took place at around 3:22 p.m. at milepost 438 about ten miles from the Navajo Reservation line. Hautzenroeder was pronounced dead at the scene and four others were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center with various injuries. The road was closed for around six hours while the scene was cleared. The accident remains under investigation.
