Monsoon Storm Dropped Hail And Rain To Parts Of Flagstaff Wednesday

The Monsoon season has been a relatively dry one so far this summer, but Wednesday it left its mark on Flagstaff. Rain and hail started to fall on the Museum Fire scar at around 1:29 p.m., but most of the moisture fell below it. Coconino County officials say the area picked up nearly three-tenths of an inch of rain. Below the scar picked up just over eight-tenths of rain. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for the area at around 2:15 p.m. At 2:47 p.m. observers at Linda Vista reported some ash and twigs visible in flows. Officials received a call from Killip Elementary School, but all in all, flooding was at a minimum. However, areas of Sunnyside picked up a a lot of hail and even covered the football field at Coconino High School. The National Weather Service says two inches of hail fell near Flagstaff Medical Center. Flagstaff is expecting a lesser chance for storms through the weekend, with an uptick of storms starting on Monday.
