Monsoon Returns To Flagstaff, Bringing More Rain And Flooding To Pipeline West

The Monsoon came back to Flagstaff Sunday with more rain and flooding to neighborhoods in the Pipeline West burn area. At around 12:30 p.m. flood waters came over the banks of Schultz Creek and onto Highway 180. Minutes later the highway became a river and water rushed down into neighborhoods. Stevanna Way was filled with water once again, as flood waters came out of Schultz Creek and into the neighborhood. However, other areas received a heavy dose of flood water as well. Talkington Drive, Meade Lane, Kutch Drive, Anderson Road and others saw flood waters affect neighborhoods. Flooding in these areas has been the case since the Monsoon season began, and will continue until long-term mitigation is built. Around an inch of rain fell in a short time in the Elden Lookout Road area and flowed downhill. The National Weather Service says to expect daily showers and thunderstorms this week, with rain heavy at times, which means possible flooding in the fire areas around Flagstaff.
