The race for a seat on the Flagstaff City Council in 2020 has its first competitor. Miranda Sweet, owner of Rainbow’s End in downtown Flagstaff, has announced her intentions for running for City Council. Sweet has lived in Flagstaff for 27 years and has been a frequent attendee at council meetings. She has been a part of the Flagstaff Leadership Program and served on its Board of Directors. Her goal is to listen to the citizens of Flagstaff and says if elected, “her vote will be consistently fair and balanced for the betterment of the Flagstaff community as a whole.” She is the first candidate to announce a campaign for City Council. Current councilwoman Jamie Whelan has announced her campaign for mayor and current Mayor Coral Evans is running for state legislature in District 6 in 2020.
