There will be road restrictions in downtown Flagstaff starting today. ADOT says crews plan to remove the raised median in the roadway between Santa Fe Avenue and Humphreys Street in preparation for the Rio de Flag Bridge Replacement project. Work is scheduled to continue until 5 p.m. Friday. East and westbound Route 66 will be narrowed to one lane between Humphreys Street and Phoenix Avenue. However, only one direction will be restricted at a time. Motorists won’t be allowed to turn left at Santa Fe Avenue. Snow forecast for Monday may postpone the start of the project. The seven-day full closure of Route 66 is planned for sometime next spring with the $4.9 million project anticipated to be completed by summer 2021.
