Copper Canyon Fire crews had to rescue a man Wednesday who tried to drive his pickup truck across Dry Beaver Creek near Rimrock when it was flooded. Officials say it took about 40 crew members to pull the 57-year-old man to safety at around 6 p.m. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say the man told deputies he began to drive across the creek, but stopped because it was getting deep. He backed up a few feet and put his truck into four-wheel drive. He tried to cross again and got about half the truck into the creek before he realized it was too deep. He put the truck in reverse, but the truck started to drift down stream. When the cab began to fill with water, he left the truck through the window. The man was able to get across the creek to the shoreline to awaiting rescue crews. He was not injured.
