A man was hit by a car Thursday afternoon on Highway 69 in Prescott. Fire officials say a man in his 40s was attempting to cross the highway east of Lowe’s Home Improvement. The driver of the sedan told authorities they saw the man enter the roadway, but was unable to avoid hitting him. The highway was closed for about an hour so a medical helicopter could land and take the man to a Phoenix area hospital. The pedestrian suffered significant injuries and there’s no word on his condition. Fire officials remind people that the use of crosswalk would have prevented the accident. A crosswalk was available at a nearby stoplight.
