Man From Munds Park Is Killed In An Accident Wednesday Night Near Black Canyon City

A Munds Park man was killed and another person was injured after a single-vehicle accident Wednesday night near Black Canyon City. DPS officials say the vehicle driven by 32-year-old Jonathon Barton left southbound Interstate-17 and rolled multiple times, coming to a rest against a stone wall. Barton and his passenger, 24-year-old Alanna Martinez also of Munds Park, were both ejected from the vehicle. Barton was pronounced dead at the scene and Martinez was flown to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment. Officials say it’s likely both weren’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
