A man arrested in Williams on June 25th, was to found unresponsive and pronounced dead in his jail cell in Flagstaff Monday. Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say 36-year-old Clayton James Thornburg was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and had three felony warrants out of Maricopa County. On Monday at around 7:51 a.m., while conducting a security and welfare check, a sergeant found an inmate hanging by a bed sheet, which was tied around his neck. The sergeant then called for help. Moments later, staff started CPR on Thornburg. Other first responders made an attempt to save him, but he was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m. Thornburg had a cell to himself and no foul play is suspected. The death is under investigation
