A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a mini-van and an unrelated arson in the Village of Oak Creek Monday. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Circle K in the six-thousand block of Highway 179 at around 6:45 a.m. A store employee says his 2004 maroon mini-van was left unattended to warm up while he was finishing his shift and someone got in and drove away. Just before 8 a.m., a deputy spotted the van as it was being driven through a parking lot of the Hillside Sedona Shopping Center in the 600 block of Highway 179. The deputy stopped the van and arrested 31-year-old MacKenzie Boswell from the Village of Oak Creek. During a search of Boswell, deputies found nearly 300-dollars in his pocket, which was stolen from the van. The deputy noted he also smelled smoke during contact with the suspect. Earlier in the day, deputies were called to the 100-block of Vista Mesa Drive, regarding several small fires near a vacant home. In talking with neighbors, they told investigators they had contact with Boswell when he came to their door asking for food. He told them he just got out of rehab and was staying in a barn next door. Boswell was booked into the Camp Verde Jail on charges connected to the vehicle theft and the fires. He remains in custody on a bond of $5,250.
