Flagstaff Unified School District officials were informed Thursday, through their wastewater surveillance program with NAU, that levels of SARS-CoV-2, or COVID-19, were found in the wastewater system at Coconino High School. FUSD is advising that individuals and students at Coconino monitor for symptoms and consider testing, even if no symptoms are present. COVID-19 testing is available through the Coconino County Health and Human Services Department. For more information on testing, log onto coconino.az.gov/covid19. If you become sick, or test positive for COVID-19 after being exposed at Coconino, contact FUSD by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. NAU started testing wastewater in Northern Arizona in 2020, to help determine the spread of COVID-19. Because the virus leaves the body in waste, the CDC believes sewage is a viable avenue for its detection.
