Large Debris Fire Still Burning East Of Flagstaff

The fire at the U Pick It lot on Leupp Road continues to have the attention of firefighters. Summit Fire and Medical officials says units have been rotating in and out of the fire for the past three days. Officials say although traditional fires tend to be controlled quickly, fires that include large amount of metals, oils and other non-organic materials can burn for an unprecedented lengths of time. On site priorities include: minimizing smoke impacts to nearby residents and minimizing water runoff from the site. There is no timetable on when the fire will be deemed over, due to the large volume of materials involved.
