A campfire that spread into the forest sent fire crews rushing to an area on the Fort Valley Trailhead north of Flagstaff Saturday. Forest service officials say the Jacob Fire was less than an acre. Six engines with Flagstaff Fire and the Coconino National Forest were sent to the area. The first crew that arrived was able to put the fire out. The area of the fire is a no-campfire area year around. Just a reminder that all Northern Arizona forests, counties and most cities are under Stage Two fire restrictions, which means NO CAMPFIRES inside or outside a controlled campground. If you decide to ignore the restrictions, you could be fined $5,000, spend six-months in jail or both. The forest service has set fire danger at “extreme” and one illegal campfire can turn into the latest disaster. For more information, log onto the national forest website.
