Heat warnings are in effect for parts of Northern Arizona. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. tonight. The warning includes Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Cordes Lakes and Sedona, as well as Oak Creek and Sycamore canyons. Highs in the area could range from 105 to 110 for the Verde Valley and 100 to 105 for Sedona. A heat advisory is in effect until to 8 p.m. Wednesday for areas of the Navajo Nation, where highs could be between 100 and 105 degrees. If you have to be outside today, drink plenty of fluids, make your time outside short and check on relatives and neighbors. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. If you get symptoms of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
