A head-on collision sent two people to the hospital and closed State Route 89A in Prescott Valley for a few hours Tuesday morning. Prescott Valley Police say the accident happened on the highway east of Coyote Springs Road at around 8:19 a.m. Investigators say a Ford Ranger was travelling eastbound when it drifted into the path of an oncoming rental truck for unknown reasons. The Ranger struck the 34-foot truck head-on. The driver of the Ranger was removed from the vehicle and flown to a Phoenix area hospital with significant injuries. The driver of the rental truck was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident has not been determined and remains under investigation.
