Habitat For Humanity Of Northern Arizona Breaks Ground On 40 New Starter Homes In Timber Sky

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona broke ground Friday in Timber Sky on 40 new starter homes. Local and state dignitaries attended the event, including Flagstaff Mayor Becky Daggett and other members of the Flagstaff City Council, as well as Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs. She told KAFF News what the group is doing for families, should be the blue print for other areas of Arizona. She says “I think this is an incredible project that’s really setting an innovative example for communities around the state. The governor adds, “Flagstaff has the zoning for this kind of housing and that’s the biggest barrier around the state. Communities can look at what’s happening here and see how beneficial it is and maybe make the changes in zoning to allow this to happen.” Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona is partnering with the Arizona Lottery on the project, along with many others. The project is also receiving two-point-two billion dollars from the state Housing Trust Fund. The goal is to have 20 homes built in a year with the final 20 finished the following year.
